STARBASE Peterson Director
Sarah has a career spanning more than 25 years in a wide variety of educational roles. She is passionate about bringing the love of STEM to youth of all ages and backgrounds.
After moving back and forth between the USA and Europe several times as an Air Force spouse, her family settled in Colorado Springs in 2014. She taught 5th grade for two years in CSSD11, bringing her students to STARBASE both years before joining the STARBASE team as a full time instructor in 2017. In October 2021 Sarah moved into the role of Director where she continues working to share the DOD STARBASE program with as many of our community's youth as possible.
Deputy Director
Marshall serves as the Deputy Director of STARBASE Peterson, where he leverages over 36 years of experience in middle school science and STEM education inspiring the next generation of innovators and leaders. With a passion for fostering curiosity and critical thinking in young minds, Marshall dedicated his career to creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that bridge the gap between classroom concepts and real-world applications. His leadership at STARBASE Peterson reflects a commitment to empowering students through collaborative projects and experiential learning, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore the wonders of science and technology.
Instructor
Carolyn moved to Colorado Springs after receiving her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Indiana University. Living in Indiana her whole life, she is enjoying all of the beautiful scenery that Colorado has to offer. She loves all things math and working with students.
Carolyn joined the STARBASE team in September 2021 and is excited to begin her teaching career here!
Instructor
Indigo is a recent graduate from UCCS where she received her bachelor’s in Elementary
Education. She is a Colorado native and moved to Colorado Springs in 2015 from a small
mountain town. She enjoys reading, ice skating, playing with her puppy, and playing board
games with her family. She is a lifetime lover of all things science and is excited to share that
passion with students.
Indigo joined STARBASE in 2022 and helped pilot our Advanced program to extend
STEAM curriculum to middle schoolers.
Instructor
With a dad in the military, Madison grew up moving around the United States before she landed in Colorado with her family in 2007. She has always had a love for math and decided she wanted to be a math teacher when she was in middle school. She also loves music and has been playing the viola for 15 years, performing with the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House while in high school.
Madison graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Secondary Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2022. She substitute taught in Denver during the fall of 2022 and landed at Starbase in February of 2023. She is very excited to teach STEAM to students in her first classroom.
Instructor
Dominique grew up with a military family, moving to different Army bases across the country and overseas, before settling down in Colorado Springs. She has always had a passion for helping others and studied health sciences at Pikes Peak State College to pursue a career in Radiology. With over three years of experience in a Child Development Center with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, she realized she has a love for teaching young minds and watching children grow into their full potential. Dominique is now pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. When not teaching or studying, you can find her curled up on the couch drinking tea with a good book, flexing her creativity with crafts, or enjoying a lazy afternoon with her husband. Dominique joined STARBASE Peterson in August 2024 and is thrilled to be a STEAM Instructor.
